N Brown unveils new board changes

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

UK clothing and footwear digital retailer N Brown has announced that Gill Barr and Richard Moross have stepped down as board directors as planned following the conclusion of the Company’s AGM.

Meg Lustman will succeed Barr as the chair of the remuneration committee and a member of the nominations and governance committee. The appointment of Lustman though remains subject to FCA approval.

Lustman has significant experience in transformation and growth, and has over 35 years of experience in the retail industry.

Following these changes, the group’s board will now comprise the chair, who was independent on appointment, the group CEO and CFO and six non-executive directors, four of whom are considered to be independent.

In November 2022, Rachel Izzard notified the board of her intention to step down as group chief financial officer to take up a career opportunity outside of the online fashion and consumer credit industry.

In addition, in August last year the company welcomed Christian Wells to the board as company secretary and general counsel, following the departure of Michael Mustard.

Ron McMillan, chair, said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Rachel, Gill, Richard and Michael for their contributions to the group and wish them every success for the future.”
