Sephora appoints new UK managing director

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Sephora has announced the appointment of Sarah Boyd as its new managing director for the UK business.

She is due to start her role on 2 January 2023, reporting to Sylvie Moreau, the president of Sephora Europe and Middle East.

The news of her appointment follows the French beauty retailer’s entry into the UK market through the acquisition of Feelunique, as well as the launch of a campaign in the run-up to the opening of its London flagship store in 2023.

It is reported that Boyd joined Sephora in 2018 and has held the position of general manager of Southeast Asia and Oceania. In her time at Sephora she was also vice president, head of markets and new ventures for South East Asia Pacific.

In her previous positions, she was based in Singapore and was responsible for 16 countries.

Prior to Sephora, she worked for groups such as L’Oréal and Coca Cola, as well as holding the role of commercial director of the Bourjois brand in the UK before it pulled out of the market.

Boyd said: “I am extremely proud and excited to share that I’m starting a new position as managing director at Sephora UK. Back to my home country, and without a doubt one of the most advanced and discerning beauty markets in the world.

“I’m ready to work with the Feelunique team to continue their journey to bring the Sephora magic to the UK. Leading the SEA and Oceania markets for the past few years has been a great honour and a privilege.”
