John Lewis Partnership has announced it is hiring over 150 roles as part of a major investment in digital.

The group is aiming to hire engineers across a range of technologies including software, cloud platform, native app, data engineers and delivery leads.

It comes as the group aims to take advantage of a digital growth phase, as it revealed onlines sales now contribute to almost 70% of its sales and nearly a fifth of Waitrose sales – up from 40% and 5% respectively just two years ago.

The new roles will also aid the growth and development of the Waitrose and John Lewis apps, which account for almost a quarter of sales for the two brands.

Sandra Christie, John Lewis Partnership head of engineering, said: “We have an industry leading team driving the digital growth of our two iconic brands, Waitrose and John Lewis. It’s our partners who make the difference and we’re really excited to be making this significant investment in growing our engineering talent.”
