The Hut Group (THG) has announced that Charles Allen, Lord Allen of Kensington CBE, is joining the group as an independent non-executive chair with immediate effect.\u00a0\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHis appointment follows an international search that began in October 2021, when THG committed to splitting the dual roles of executive chair and CEO held by its founder Matthew Moulding, who will continue as CEO.\r\n\r\nAccording to the group, Allen has a clear mandate to \u201crefresh\u201d its board and further strengthen governance and diversity. In addition to reviewing the independent board, he will be working with Moulding in developing the management team, as well as refining the group's strategy.\r\n\r\nAllen is a highly experienced chair with industry expertise across retail, media, technology, gaming, food production and manufacturing. He is currently chair of Balfour Beatty plc, as well as the privately-owned Global Media and Entertainment.\u00a0\r\n\r\nPreviously he was chair of ISS AS, 2 Sisters Food Group and executive chair of EMI Music. In addition, he was CEO of ITV plc from its formation in 2004 until 2007, CEO of Granada Group plc and chief advisor to the British Home Office.\u00a0\r\n\r\nMatthew Moulding, CEO, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Charles's calibre and reputation.
