H. Samuel owner donates £766k to Red Cross Ukraine

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Signet Jewelers Limited, the owner of H .Samuels, has announced the foundation will donate £766k to the Red Cross Ukraine humanitarian relief efforts, through its global network.

Signet has also suspended business interaction with Russian-owned entities since the beginning of the invasion, in unity with all those in the world calling for peace.

According to the jewellers, the donation will help provide “much needed” food, medical supplies, shelter and ongoing crisis relief.

To maximise individual giving, the Signet Love Inspires Foundation will also match donations from Signet team members by 2:1 up to £766 per person per year, to the Red Cross and other qualifying organisations to assist with the humanitarian relief efforts

Virginia Drosos CEO, said: “At Signet, our purpose is inspiring love. We stand against this invasion and pray for all the innocent people impacted by war. We put our purpose into action through the Signet Love Inspires Foundation and the generous contributions from our Signet team members.

“We give with a grateful heart to support the Red Cross organisation’s critical mission to provide lifesaving help where it is so desperately needed.”

Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the American Red Cross, added: “As the fighting intensifies in Ukraine, so does the dire situation for impacted families. We cannot thank Signet Love Inspires Foundation enough for their generous donation, enabling the global Red Cross network to provide humanitarian relief in response to the Ukraine crisis.”
