Nike said on Thursday it would be temporarily closing all its stores in Russia, joining a growing group of Western brands that have suspended businesses in the country, Reuters has reported.

It comes following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

The sportswear maker had previously made merchandise purchases on its website and app unavailable in Russia, but has now shut down all operations.

Meanwhile, The company said its foundation “would be donating $1m (£750,000) to the United Nations Children’s Fund and the International Rescue Committee to support relief efforts”.

An increasing number of retail brands are cutting ties with Russia, such as Asos and H&M.
