On this episode i'm joined by Florian Clemens, Strategy and Proposition Director at Tesco Media, to unpack how retail media is evolving at speed — and what Tesco Media’s role looks like inside the wider Tesco ecosystem. We explore the “win-win-win” promise for shoppers, brands and retailers, the power of contextual relevance, and why Tesco calls its offering “video, reimagined.” Plus, we’ll look ahead to GenAI creativity, automation, and what brands should do now to prepare for retail media’s next phase.

Getir, a rapid grocery delivery app, reportedly expects to create up to 6,000 jobs in the UK this year alone.

According to Sky News, the Turkey-based start-up has already created 4,000 jobs in the country, a figure that is expected to rise to 10,000 by the end of 2022.

The group launched in London last year and has since grown to operate in 20 locations across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Portsmouth.

It comes as the group has pledged to invest £100m in furthering its UK expansion.

Unlike other gig economy businesses, all Getir workers are classed as employees, and therefore entitled to certain benefits and paid at least the real living wage.

Turancan Salur, regional general manager for Getir, said: “2021 was an extremely successful year for Getir as we began our global expansion.

“There is no better city to launch international expansion from than London, due to its worldwide status and welcoming, cosmopolitan and diverse nature. We have beaten all expectations for 2021 and plan to go even further this year.”
