Gymshark to open first physical store

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Gymshark has announced it is set to open its first ever physical store with a flagship site on Regent Street, London.

The activewear brand said the store is set to open in summer 2022, and will create over 100 new jobs.

The 18,000sq ft space is currently being renovated to help “deliver a truly amazing and unique Gymshark experience for our community”.

The new site is set to host events and feature workout spaces, as well as “community hangouts”.

In a new blog post, Gymshark said: “From We Lift The City to the Gymshark Run Club, our awesome community is what makes us, and we can’t wait to bring the conditioning community even closer together with our very first permanent Gymshark store, in the heart of London.

“Our new Regent Street store isn’t just going to be about IRL retail shopping, it’s about experiential spaces that bring the conditioning community closer together than ever before – from special events and community hangouts to workout spaces and more.”

Gymshark CEO Ben Francis added: “It’s going to be incredible, it’s going to be experiential, and we want to bring as much of that Gymshark vibe and community into this place.”
