Frasers Group claims to have been ‘frozen out’ of EWM bid

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has reportedly claimed it has been “frozen out” of the auction to acquire three brands from the recently collapsed Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group.

According to The Telegraph, Frasers Group “expressed interest”, in the purchasing of Jaeger, Peacocks and Edinburgh Woollen Mill, however it claims consultants at FRP Advisory – appointed to look for potential buyers – “have been unhelpful throughout the process”.

It accused FRP advisory of “refusing to provide or providing very slowly the normal information a buyer would expect”.

On Friday, The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group, which is owned by Phillip Day, collapsed making over 600 members of staff redundant.

A spokesman for Phillip Day told the Telegraph: “All the bidders for Peacocks and Jaeger have had access to the same information and ample opportunity to make an offer since we want to secure the best possible future for both these businesses.”
