Lidl GB has announced that Roberto Eretta will step into the role of chief operating officer this summer, filling the shoes of Maciej Tylkowski when adopts an international role within the company.
Eretta, currently COO of Lidl Italy, has been with the business for nearly 20 years. His previous roles at its Italian branch include as human resources director and regional director for Lombardy and Emilia Romagna.
Departing COO Tylkowski’s career spans more than 25 years, 17 spent as executive board member at Lidl Poland. After starting at Lidl Germany as a store assistant, Tylkowski climbed the ladder to senior management positions.
In 2001, he moved back to Poland where he played a key role in opening the first Lidl stores. He joined Lidl GB in 2023, working on sales, logistics, and supply chain.
This news comes after Lidl last month maintained a 31-month streak as the UK’s fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar retailer and created around 160 jobs with new openings.
Commenting on his promotion, Eretta said: “Since beginning my career almost two decades ago as an Area Manager in Lidl Italy, I’ve been passionate about sales and providing our customers with outstanding service.
“Maciej has done incredible work at Lidl GB, implementing strategies and innovations to enhance the in-store experience and strengthen the competitive position. I’m excited to join the team in GB and share my love for offering the best possible experience while delivering quality and affordability at the same time.”
