Primark to open first standalone homewares store in March

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Primark has announced that it is set to open its first standalone homewares store in Belfast on 6 March 2025.

The 8,700 sq ft one floor store is located in the iconic Fountain House building on Donegall Place in Belfast.

Primark’s homeware offering will move out of the Bank Buildings, allowing the retailer to expand its kidswear and menswear collections in that space.

The store will stock essentials like cotton bedding and towels to trend-led soft furnishings, decorative pieces or funky kitchen ceramics.

The new store will be Primark’s 10th in Northern Ireland and marks a new lease of life for the Fountain House building,

Fintan Costello, head of Primark Northern Ireland and Ireland, said: “This is a truly proud moment for Primark as we open our first standalone Primark Home store. Belfast felt like the perfect place to bring this concept to life, and Fountain House offers an incredible setting in the heart of the city centre to showcase our expanded homeware range. Our Home collection has always proven to be a real hit among our Belfast customers and we can’t wait to welcome them into our very first Primark Home store.

“Primark and Belfast have a storied history and we’re incredibly proud the city will be the first in the world to experience this exciting new retail concept. In the same way our fashion collections are helping create wardrobes that look and feel great, Primark Home will offer a wider range of quality homeware and lifestyle products to help our customers create stand-out interiors.”

The opening of this store is the second new concept that Primark has launched in recent months following the opening of its new small-format store in Montijo, Portugal in November.
