Aldi is set to create 1,600 new store roles this year as it aims to continue its significant investment across the UK.

Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket, which currently has more than 1,050 stores, has plans to open even more across the UK as part of its £650m investment in Britain.

Roles available will include store managers, assistant store managers, deputy store managers, store assistants and cleaners.

New stores that are planned to open in the coming weeks include March in Cambridgeshire, Moston in Greater Manchester and Lytham in Lancashire, contributing to Aldi’s continued growth in Britain.

It also promised to open nine new stores across the capital this year and long-term ambition to open another 100 stores in London, creating around 3,500 new jobs.

Kelly Stokes, HR director at Aldi UK, said: “Our store colleagues are the best in the business and, as we continue to expand our store network and provide more customers with access to Aldi’s high-quality, affordable products, we’re going to need to grow those store teams with even more amazing people.

“We are committed to creating rewarding careers and offering market-leading pay for all our store colleagues. This year promises to be an exciting year as we bring even more Aldi stores to local communities across Britain.”

The news comes as Aldi experienced its best Christmas ever in 2024 with sales topping £1.6bn in the four weeks to Christmas Eve.

Over the period, total sales rose by 3.4%, while seasonal Christmas products rose by 10% year-on-year and its Specially Selected range rose by 12% compared with the same period in 2023.
