Berghaus opens store at Gloucester Quays

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Outdoor brand Berghaus has opened its second standalone UK store at Gloucester Quays

The new Berghaus store has opened opposite Adidas, delivering its outdoor-focused philosophy and signature range of performance gear to the South West in a standalone store for the first time.

Designed to ensure proper support for outdoor exploration of all levels and terrains, the 2,117 sq ft store stocks Berghaus classics such as waterproof jackets, a range of insulated clothing, and a selection of daysacks and durable footwear.

The store’s design is also a debut concept for the brand, blending inspiration from the natural environment with functionality. The space features wooden furniture, metal finishes, and a 360-degree landscape design inspired by the local countryside, as well as life-like foliage on the exterior.

Paul Carter, asset director at Peel Retail and Leisure, said: “Berghaus is the latest in a series of top retailers that have committed to Gloucester Quays over the last 12 months, and is exactly the calibre of brand that the outlet has become known for. Our dynamic line-up of outdoor-wear options is by design, with each new arrival responding to the needs of our catchment, and the opening of Berghaus’s second-ever UK standalone store and brand-new store concept will add even more diversity.”

Adam Gill, head of sales UK and Ireland for Pentland Brands, added: “Berghaus is committed to helping people of all backgrounds to access the outdoors and our new store in Gloucester Quays has been designed to do that. We will welcome people in and inspire them, and make sure that they leave with the right kit for whatever adventures they’re planning.

“Gloucester Quays is a top outlet, and the combination of its proximity to the Cotswolds and an urban hub means it is the ideal location for our second UK site. We have lots that will appeal to visitors, including our latest ranges of products and a brand-new store concept that marks the beginning of Berghaus’ new retail strategy.”
