Gucci appoints new deputy CEO

Stefano Cantino joins the fashion brand after spending over five years at Louis Vuitton, where he has overseen communication and image

Gucci has announced the appointment of Stefano Cantino as the brand’s new deputy chief executive officer, reporting to Jean-François Palus, president and CEO, from 2 May.  

In this newly created position, Cantino will share with Palus the responsibility to define and implement the brand strategy.  

He joins Gucci after spending over five years at Louis Vuitton, where he has overseen  communication and image. Prior to his time at Louis Vuitton, Cantino, who holds a degree in  Political Science from the University of Turin, has spent over 20 years in Prada Group in roles with growing responsibilities in marketing and commercial and lastly being appointed communication and marketing director.

Palus said: “I am absolutely delighted that Stefano Cantino joins us at Gucci for the new chapter that we are  currently writing for the House with determination and a long-term vision. His extensive experience in the luxury industry at senior levels in various organisations, his wide range of expertise, as well as his strategic thinking and his artistic culture, make him a major  addition to our team.

“Stefano will work very closely with me, and in full alignment with all the Gucci team, to implement our action plans across the business.”

Francesca Bellettini, deputy CEO of Kering in charge of brand development, added: “The appointment of Stefano Cantino as deputy CEO of Gucci is another step in the reinforcement  of the iconic Florentine House. His extensive experience in strategic roles in prominent companies  in the luxury sector is a valuable addition to Jean-François’ strong leadership and Sabato’s creative  strength. 

“Together with them and the entire Gucci team, we will write a new and highly successful  chapter in the history of our magnificent brand.” 

Regarding his appointment, Cantino said: “I am very proud to join Gucci, the house that owns the richest heritage in Italian luxury, as it begins a new chapter in its history. I look forward to contributing with  full dedication to the definition and implementation of the strategy that Jean-François Palus has initiated, and I can’t wait to work with all the Gucci team towards success.”
