MINISO to open new store in Camden

MINISO to open new store in Camden

On this episode of Talking Shop, we're joined by Dan Cate, CEO and Founder of SoldThrough. Dan is a heavyweight retail executive who has spent decades steering the merchandising and digital operations of America’s most iconic retail institutions, from Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s to Century 21 and Lord & Taylor. Today, through his platform SoldThrough, Dan helps international fashion brands cross the Atlantic and crack the notoriously brutal U.S. retail landscape. We break down his journey from the shop floor to the C-suite, the operational indicators that prove a brand is truly ready for international expansion, and how to navigate a fragmented American market without destroying your margins. We also discuss how to balance localised inventory with central efficiency, and the one non-negotiable metric that tells you a product has found genuine market fit.

Lifestyle retailer MINISO is opening its biggest-ever store in the UK in Camden

Located on Camden High Street, MINISO is opening its doors to the public on Wednesday, February 14 at noon.

Spanning across an expansive 4,110 square feet, MINISO’s Camden store will stand as the brand’s largest retail space in the UK to date, marking its 26th store in the UK and its fourth stand-alone high-street location.

Embracing all things Kawaii — “cute characters, sweet designs” — the trend has become a lifestyle staple, with the UK witnessing a surge in so-called “cute culture”. MINISO is in the middle of that trend, renowned for items like Blind Boxes and plushies, last year it sold 30 plush toys per hour.

The new Camden store will be the first store to have dedicated zones for key ranges such as Sanrio, beauty, snacks and Blind Box collectibles. The Camden store will also feature homewares, accessories and its newly launched “beauty + self-care” line, featuring nail polishes, face masks, perfumes, and essential makeup products.

The store is currently preparing for the opening day that will feature a live DJ and shoppers will also have the chance to meet the mascot PenPen.

Saad Usman, chief operating officer at MINISO UK, said: “At MINISO, the unveiling of our Camden store signifies a momentous step in our journey, driven by our belief that ‘Life is for Fun.’ Our store goes beyond the typical retail environment; it stands as a vibrant hub of joy, creativity and all things cute.

“With endless choices and delightful surprises, the Camden store perfectly embodies the unique spirit that defines MINISO.”
