Joe Browns to open new store in Leeds

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Joe Browns, the fashion and homes retailer, has announced the opening date of a new store at the city’s White Rose Shopping Centre, its first store in Leeds.

The 3,000 sq ft Leeds White Rose store will have its grand opening on Saturday 2 December and will showcase its own line across womenswear, menswear, and home.

Focused around a central pergola, tones of purple, teal and deep blues create the backdrop for Joe Browns collections alongside neon slogans such as ‘Be Remarkable’.

The new store, previously occupied by Paperchase, will create 14 new jobs.

Peter Alecock, CEO, Joe Browns said: “We are thrilled to be unveiling a new store in our home city.  The White Rose Shopping Centre is a fantastic location to showcase the very best we have to offer across fashion and home. As with our other stores, we’ve put all our effort into ensuring visitors feel intrigued, interested and inspired once they cross our threshold.

“We cannot think of a better way to celebrate our 25th anniversary and look forward to welcoming shoppers to our first bricks and mortar store in Leeds.”

The Leeds store marks a new chapter for the brand. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, it announced earlier this year expansion plans and is currently searching for sites for another nine new stores across the UK as well as having completed a recent warehouse upgrade.

Steven Foster, centre director at White Rose Shopping Centre, said: “We’re excited to welcome Leeds-born fashion and homeware brand Joe Browns to White Rose, opening its doors just in time for Christmas. The new store will be a great addition to our retailer line-up, arriving with a unique and stylish offering, complete with eye-catching window dressing, which we’re sure will be a big success with our guests.”
