Supermarket chain Aldi has recently been crowned ‘Multiple Retailer of the Year’ at the Drinks Business Awards.

The result, announce at the London Wine Fair, comes after a strong year of innovation for Aldi, with a focus on strengthening its range of homegrown wines, doubling the number of low and no tipples, and working with emerging craft producers to launch products such as the Yorkshire Pudding Beer, as featured on Channel 4’s ‘Aldi’s Next Big Thing’.

Judges at the competition said: “Aldi demonstrated impressive growth and outperformance in the wine and spirits category. English wine has been a particular success for the retailer, with their BWS team introducing a new English Rosé and Pinot Noir Rosé.”

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “Aldi is growing rapidly and outperforming competitors like never before, and much of this is thanks to our successful wine, spirits and beer ranges. We have recently become the fastest growing wine retailer in the UK and continue to be the go-to destination for outstanding beers and spirits at low prices.

“This award is testament to our buying team who remain extremely focused on delivering accessible price points for shoppers that will allow them to enjoy amazing products without having to worry about the cost.”
