Aldi is set to create more than 2,000 new jobs across its UK business between now and Christmas.

It comes as the group, which currently has over 920 stores and employs around 38,000 people, said it was “pushing ahead” with plans to open more than one new store a week this year.

Aldi is set to open new stores in towns and cities including Canterbury, Swansea and London, as well as “many others up and down the country”.

The group will be hiring for store assistants, managerial positions, caretakers and cleaners, as well as store apprentices.

It is also currently recruiting for 900 jobs across its 13 regional distribution centres around the UK, and a further 175 vacancies at its head office in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

In addition, Aldi said it is searching for over 80 graduates to join its next graduate scheme intake, starting from September onwards.

Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi UK, said: “I am unbelievably proud of our amazing Aldi colleagues, and what they have achieved together over the last year.

“As we continue to invest in new stores, bringing unbeatable Aldi prices to millions of customers, we’re looking for thousands more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country. I look forward to welcoming each and every one of them in the future.”
