Victoria’s Secret CMO Ed Razek to step down

Ed Razek, Victoria’s Secret owner L Brands’ chief marketing officer, has resigned from his position within the company.
According to CNBC Razek, who has been with the company since the 1980s, reportedly revealed to L Brands CEO Les Wexner that he wanted to step down earlier last month and his decision has been conveyed in an internal memo circulated throughout the company.
It was also reportedly announced in the memo that Ed Wolf senior VP of brand and creative will become the interim head of brand and creative. Bob Campbell, VP of creative at Victoria’s Secret, is also set to serve as interim head of creative at Victoria’s Secret.
In the memo CNBC reported that Razek wrote: “With the exception of Les, I’ve been with L Brands longer than anyone. … But all good things must and do, inevitably, come to an end.”
The news comes just days after the lingerie retailer announced it had hired its first transgender model. Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio revealed the news on her Instagram with a behind the scenes snap of her at a Victoria’s Secret Pink photoshoot.
Last year in a an interview with Vogue Razek was criticised for his controversial comments on the use of transgender models claiming transsexual” models should not be cast “because the show is a fantasy”. He later apologised for his comments.
