ASOS appoints Mark Holland as chief operating officer

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

ASOS has announced the appointment of Mark Holland to the newly-created role of chief operating officer.

A member of ASOS’ executive board, Holland has worked for ASOS for six years. His most recent position was supply chain director, where he oversaw ASOS’ global trading, customer care and supply chain functions.

His new role will see him continue to lead those departments but also add the management and delivery of ASOS’ significant transformation projects to his responsibilities.

These include the forthcoming launch and automation of its new Atlanta warehouse; the move to a new retail planning and merchandising system, Truly Global Retail; further automation at ASOS’ Berlin fulfilment centre; and improvements at its London HQ and Customer Care Centre in Leavesden. He will continue to report to ASOS’ CEO, Nick Beighton.

Nick Beighton, CEO, ASOS said: “Mark’s well-deserved appointment is a reflection of the significant contribution he has made to the business over the last six years and the skills he possesses, which will be invaluable to us as we position ourselves for further growth.”
