Homeware and interiors brand Laura James has announced the appointment of Matthew Talbot as its new chief executive officer.

Talbot, who previously served as chief operating officer for four and a half years, has overseen a period in which the business more than doubled in size, with increased profitability and customer satisfaction.

During that time, he led operations across supply chain, IT, customer services, finance, HR, product development, merchandising and marketing.

Prior to joining Laura James, Talbot held senior roles at OKA, Neptune and Hotel Chocolat. He has more than 30 years of experience in change management and business improvement.

In his new role, Talbot will focus on sustaining profitable growth while developing the brand and customer experience. His plans include supporting the buying and merchandising teams to expand product depth, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and investing in technology, data and talent to strengthen multichannel operations.

Talbot said: “My passion for Laura James is evident. From building an outstanding team, delivering amazing products and providing an industry-leading customer experience, I’ve dedicated over four years of my career to drive Laura James to be a household name.

“This recognition celebrates my dedication to the business, and I am grateful for the trust of our team, founders Tom and Adam, partners and customers, and excited for what’s ahead.”
