On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

EG on the Move has announced that it has launched a new roadside service station in Stowmarket in partnership with Co-op.

Known as EG On the Move Stowmarket, the new to market site is located on the A1308 Needham Road and is the latest new store launched by EG on the Move, working in partnership with Co-op.

It is the first to launch following the opening of a number of trial locations last summer, with shared ambitions to launch further sites together later this year.

The Co-op store itself will be run as a Co-op franchise and has a self-service Starbucks coffee on-the-go; bakery products and hot food, meal deals, freshly prepared sandwiches; car care products, ready meals and pizzas.

The 24-hour site includes four Ultra Rapid EV charging points, and eight pumps offering both standard and hyperform unleaded and diesel fuel. Air and vacuum is also available, with two jet washes coming soon.

Martin Rogers, director of partnership development, Co-op, said: ‘We are delighted to be working with EG On The Move on our latest site, developing a compelling forecourt and convenience food offering as our partnership looks to expand. We are focused on scaling our franchise business, this is the first site to open together following our successful trial, and we are exploring more locations for joint growth.

“By combining our membership , convenience knowledge, tailored product ranges, and automated supply, with EG On The Move’s fuel and franchise expertise, we will bring the benefits of Co-op to more communities together.”
