On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

British womenswear brand Hobbs has announced that it is set to open at Trafford Centre this autumn.

The new 4,000 square foot store, located on Upper Regent Crescent, will stock the brand’s mainline range, as well as the store’s limited-edition collections and petite ranges.

Hobbs has recently re-evaluated the look and feel of its stores, developing a “modern and engaging” store design concept that will be rolled out to future locations. This new concept, crafted through a collaboration with Zebra design studio, reflects a “refined and contemporary” aesthetic.

The result will be a “fresh and inviting” shopping environment that enhances the overall customer experience, aligning with Hobbs London’s brand identity and values.

The Trafford Centre location will be Hobbs’ 63rd standalone store in the UK.

Caraline Money, global retail director at Hobbs, said: “Trafford Centre’s status as a premier and luxurious shopping destination aligns with Hobbs’ prestigious brand image and adds to the overall shopping experience for our customers. With high footfall and a wide catchment from across the region, we’re expecting to reach a broader audience, enhancing our presence in the North of England.”

Kate Pearson, director of asset management, Pradera Lateral – Trafford Centre’s Asset Managers, added: “As a beloved British brand, Hobbs’ premium retail offering aligns perfectly with our existing range of luxury fashion brands. At Trafford Centre, we’re proud to be home to forward-thinking brands who are expanding their market presence across the UK and are thrilled that Hobbs have chosen us for their next store location.”
