Asos appoints new executive VP of digital product

On this episode of Talking Shop, we're joined by Dan Cate, CEO and Founder of SoldThrough. Dan is a heavyweight retail executive who has spent decades steering the merchandising and digital operations of America’s most iconic retail institutions, from Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s to Century 21 and Lord & Taylor. Today, through his platform SoldThrough, Dan helps international fashion brands cross the Atlantic and crack the notoriously brutal U.S. retail landscape. We break down his journey from the shop floor to the C-suite, the operational indicators that prove a brand is truly ready for international expansion, and how to navigate a fragmented American market without destroying your margins. We also discuss how to balance localised inventory with central efficiency, and the one non-negotiable metric that tells you a product has found genuine market fit.

Asos has appointed Anthony Ben Sadoun as the new executive vice president of digital product.

According to Drapers, he will join the group’s management committee next week and report directly to CEO José Antonio Ramos Calamonte.

In his new role, Ben Sadoun will help drive forward the retailer’s customer experience by “combining the latest technology with Asos’ fashion creativity”.

He most recently served as chief product officer at Latin American online marketplace Kavak. Before that, he worked in the same role at Linio, an online marketplace also in Latin America.

Calamonte said: “I’m very happy to welcome Anthony Ben Sadoun to Asos as EVP of digital product. Most recently serving as chief product officer for Latin American online marketplace Kavak, Anthony will lead our digital product roadmap and drive the continued evolution of our online platform, combining the latest technology with the latest trends in fashion to deliver an inspirational experience for our customers.”
