Sainsbury’s has announced the opening of its latest convenience store on Brighton Road, in South Croydon.

The 2,640 sq. ft store was transformed from a vacant unit into a “fully fitted-out” Sainsbury’s Local in just five weeks where it will now serve customers from 7am – 11pm seven days a week.

Situated opposite the grounds of Whitgift House and Whitgift School, the store will offer local residents and visitors to the area a selection of fresh food, fruit and vegetables as well as branded and own-brand groceries, frozen food and household products.

There are also six parking spaces to the side of the store for the added convenience of customers who may be passing through the area by car.

Patrick Dunne, property director at Sainsbury’s, said: “We have a proud history of serving the community in South Croydon and I’m delighted we’re now able to offer even more customers in the area the chance to enjoy Sainsbury’s renowned quality products and service at their convenience.”

John Corps, local store manager, Croydon Brighton Road, added: “We’re very pleased with our new store and everything it has to offer and we’re sure our new customers will be too.

“Born and raised in Croydon myself, I’m really looking forward to making a difference in my local community as we help customers prepare for Christmas and other festivities at this busy time of year.”
