Sosandar appoints Steve Dilks as CFO

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Sosandar, the online women’s fashion brand, has announced the appointment of Steve Dilks to the company’s board as chief financial officer.

Dilks joined Sosandar in September 2020 as a finance director, after spending 11 years with Regatta, the outdoor apparel business.

In addition, following his appointment to the board, Mark Collingbourne, group finance director, will transition to the position of non-executive director with “immediate effect”.

Bill Murray, non-executive chairman of the group said that he was “very pleased” to welcome Dilks to the board.

He said: “He hit the ground running as soon as he joined last year and, since then, his experience and expertise have added significant value to the business. As finance director and now as CFO, Steve provides great confidence to the board, offers substantial commercial contributions and is proving to be a great asset to the business.”

Sosandar was launched in September 2016 by Ali Hall and Julie Lavington, who previously launched and ran high street fashion magazine Look, as editor and publishing director respectively.

The group creates clothing for “fashion-conscious women” who have “graduated” from “throwaway fashion”.
