John Lewis has unveiled its 2025 Christmas advert, marking the start of the festive retail season with a story of connection set to a reimagined 1990s dance classic.

The campaign, created by Saatchi and Saatchi, features Where Love Lives by Alison Limerick, with a new version by producer and artist Labrinth. It focuses on a father and teenage son whose shared love of music bridges emotional distance, closing with the line: “If you can’t find the words, find the gift.”

Rosie Hanley, director of brand at John Lewis, said: “This year’s John Lewis Christmas campaign is a celebration of connection, memory and the unspoken emotions that make the season truly magical. We hope the advert will inspire our customers to find the gift that articulates their feelings, allowing the present itself to speak where words may fall short.”

The campaign launches today across television, social media and in stores, with an exclusive 24-hour preview on the John Lewis app for my John Lewis members. A limited-edition Where Love Lives vinyl will also be sold in partnership with Rough Trade at John Lewis, featuring Limerick’s original on Side A and Labrinth’s new version on Side B.

All profits from the £14.99 release will go to the retailer’s Building Happier Futures programme, which supports people who have grown up in care.

Franki Goodwin, chief creative officer at Saatchi and Saatchi, said: “Music is always the beating heart of the John Lewis campaign at Christmas, but this year it’s the gift itself. The track threads through an integrated campaign that explores the power of a gift to communicate something we might not be able to put into words.”
