Luxury brand Byredo has opened its first standalone store outside London at Victoria Leeds, marking the latest high-end retail addition to the city centre shopping destination.

The new 2,154 sq ft unit is located in Victoria Quarter and serves as Byredo’s northern flagship. It features two distinct areas: a main space showcasing the brand’s core ranges of fragrance, body care and candles, and a more intimate room dedicated to its make-up collection and curated lifestyle edit.

Designed in a Brutalist style, the main space includes mineral surfaces, monolithic forms and calibrated lighting. The adjoining room presents items from Byredo’s Byproduct line, including woven blankets and leather goods from its Kantha collection.

The standalone opening follows the brand’s previous presence as a concession within Victoria Leeds’ Harvey Nichols store. It now joins other premium self-care retailers at the site, including Aesop’s northern flagship.

Rachel Bradburn, head of leasing at Redical, said: “Health and beauty as a category performs exceptionally well at Victoria Leeds. Our premium mix of brands has fostered an elevated retail experience, in which Byredo fits in seamlessly.

“The brand’s first standalone store outside of the capital adds yet another point of difference to the destination, further establishing Victoria Quarter as the go-to premier location for luxury names in beauty, fashion, and more.”

Byredo is the latest retailer to make its regional debut at Victoria Leeds, following the northern openings of fashion brand Nobody’s Child and luggage specialist Tumi last month.
