Aldi is set to recruit for 1,000 store roles across the UK as it accelerates its store openings programme for the rest of 2025.

The group said it is hiring for a range of in-store positions including store assistants, cleaners, apprentices and management roles.

The recruitment drive follows a public call for suggestions on where new stores are most needed. Aldi said it has reviewed thousands of responses to help shape its site search.

Priority locations now include Braintree in Essex, Bromley in Greater London, Chesham in Buckinghamshire and Balby in Doncaster, alongside other sites across the UK.

The expansion is part of a £650m investment this year. Aldi currently operates more than 1,050 stores in the UK and is working towards a long-term target of 1,500.

Ten new stores are due to open this summer in locations including Caterham in Surrey, Sheffield in South Yorkshire and Fulham Broadway in London.

Store assistants earn a starting hourly rate of £12.75 nationally, rising to £13.66 with service. In London, the starting rate is £14.05, increasing to £14.35.

New roles will be available in locations such as Fulham Broadway and Caterham.

Kelly Stokes, Aldi UK recruitment director, said: “As we expand into new communities, we’re excited to bring even more people into the Aldi family.

“We’re proud to offer not only the best pay and benefits, but also a positive working environment and real opportunities for progression.”
