The Co-operative will be unveiling the refurbishment of its store in Longfield, Kent, this Thursday (13 July) after a four-week programme of works and improvements.
Along with the refurbishment, the store has also benefited from an enhanced range of fresh products, meal ideas, everyday essentials, hot food, food-to-go, Fairtrade products, flowers, chilled beers and wines, as well as ready meals, pizzas, ‘free-from’ items and vegan and plant-based products.
The 2,700 sq ft convenience store, which employs 19 local people and opens between 7am and 10pm daily, includes customer car parking, a free ATM , an in-store bakery, a Costa coffee dispenser, and convenient parcel collection services via Amazon.
The store also includes online home delivery, and click and collect for groceries through the retailer’s website.
Jessica Payne, store manager at Co-op Longfield, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to carry out a programme of works and improvements to better serve our community.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the community back into their new-look Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve the community, conveniently.”
In addition, the retailer has added a soft plastic recycle unit to the store for the community to recycle crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals and yoghurt pots, as well as biscuit wrappers and pet food pouches.
Co-op is one of the largest consumer co-operatives and is owned by millions of UK consumers. Alongside Food, it also operates Funeralcare, Insurance, and Legal Services.
