Not On The High Street appoints Leanne Rothwell as CEO

On this episode of Talking Shop, we're joined by Dan Cate, CEO and Founder of SoldThrough. Dan is a heavyweight retail executive who has spent decades steering the merchandising and digital operations of America’s most iconic retail institutions, from Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s to Century 21 and Lord & Taylor. Today, through his platform SoldThrough, Dan helps international fashion brands cross the Atlantic and crack the notoriously brutal U.S. retail landscape. We break down his journey from the shop floor to the C-suite, the operational indicators that prove a brand is truly ready for international expansion, and how to navigate a fragmented American market without destroying your margins. We also discuss how to balance localised inventory with central efficiency, and the one non-negotiable metric that tells you a product has found genuine market fit.

Not On The High Street has announced its chief commercial officer Leanne Rothwell is to succeed Claire Davenport as its CEO.

Davenport is set to step down as CEO of Not On The High Street after three years leading the company. Rothwell will step into the role of CEO starting this month, after a transition period.

She has been with the business for 10 years, starting as head of Account Management in 2012. The firm added she has overseen the growth of the partner-base from 1,000 to over 5,000 sellers, leading all of Not On The High Street’s commercial efforts.

Rothwell said: “Not On The High Street has been a huge part of my life for the last ten years and I’m honoured to move into the CEO role. Our new brand, launching today, and extensive selection will continue to broaden our appeal, attracting a wider audience to our vibrant and passionate community of partners.”

Not on the High Street said Davenport has been “instrumental” in leading the firm during the pandemic, modernising the tech and data platform and spearheading a strategy to target additional customer segments with a “reinvigorated brand”.

Davenport added: “It’s been a privilege to lead such a unique brand over the past three years. I’ve been humbled by the many small businesses who rely on our marketplace for growth and watched in awe as some have evolved from fledgling ideas to multi-million pound entities. I leave the company with an exciting new chapter ahead and I’m delighted to see Leanne take the helm and continue to drive the business forward.”
