Embattled retailer Hawkin’s Bazaar confirmed its final store closures over the weekend as part of its administration process.

The joint administrators of Hawkin’s Bazaar Limited, Tom Straw and Simon Thomas of Moorfields Advisory Limited, revealed that all of its stores were to close after the weekend of 2 February.

Straw, joint administrator and partner at Moorfields, said: “We are grateful for the hard work of all staff during this extremely difficult and challenging time. We are working closely with the employees affected by the closures to ensure they receive the support they need for redundancy and other compensatory payments.

“The stores across the county will be open as usual over the weekend and we would encourage shoppers to make the most of the great deals on offer. Extended discounts of up to 90% are in place from today and offers are available on some of our best-known products.”

Hawkin’s Bazaar was founded in 1973 and operated 20 stores across the UK and Ireland. Moorfields Advisory said that the chain had faced a “challenging” Christmas period, which was “reflective of the struggling high street retail sector”.
