Waitrose has announced the opening of Wandsworth New Acres, a brand new 2,500 sq ft Little Waitrose convenience shop situated in a new neighbourhood development.

The company has revealed that Chris Kern is moving across from the Hampton Hill Little Waitrose shop to be branch manager of Little Waitrose Wandsworth New Acres.

The store further strengthens Waitrose’s foothold in the capital, creating 26 new jobs, following recent refurbishments in Marylebone and Clerkenwell.

Moreover, Waitrose has revealed that it is committing to a multi-million pound investment in London, funding renewed convenience shops in Crouch End and Old Brompton Road as well as upgrading the Waitrose supermarket in Coulsdon before the end of the year, with further transformations scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

Tina Mitchell, Waitrose interim managing director, said: “From our roots in Acton where we opened our very first shop, to Streatham which saw our first supermarket, and now our newest convenience shop in Wandsworth, London has always been home to Waitrose and central to our success.

“Today, as we open our 62nd store in the capital, we’re committing to investing millions to expand and refresh our portfolio. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and by continually listening to what our customers want and need, we are well positioned for future growth in London and across the UK.”

Kern added: “In my two decades with Waitrose, I’ve seen a host of new developments as we’ve adapted to suit our customers’ evolving needs, tastes and lifestyles. What will never change, however, is our commitment to great customer service and fantastic food. We’re ready to welcome our new customers in Wandsworth and be a part of this exciting new neighbourhood and community.”

The new opening comes as part of the company’s multi-year £1bn investment into its store estate. Waitrose’s London store portfolio currently employs more than 5,700 partners who work across 62 shops.
