Rituals and Miniso open stores at Derbion

On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

Midlands’ retail and leisure destination, Derbion, has announced that Rituals and Miniso have taken up leases.

The news follows a string of recent openings at the centre including Yankee Candle’s 1,300 sq ft store and TUI’s all-new 1,000 sq ft space.

Rituals has signed a lease for a 1,700 sq ft space, marking the brand’s first standalone store in Derby

The lifestyle and wellness brand has over 1,000 stores across 36 countries, and offers visitors to Derbion the chance to discover “award-winning” bath, body and home products, ranging from skin and body care to scented candles and fragrances.

Meanwhile, Miniso, which has stores in over 100 countries worldwide, has also recently opened its brand-new 2,000 sq ft store to strengthen Derbion’s retail offering.

Miniso aims to appeal to young adults and families, offering a range of toys, tech, stationery, accessories, homeware, food, health and beauty.

Michael Boundy, senior asset manager at Derbion, said: “Following the success of 2022, it’s great to see that our leasing momentum has continued with a great number of new openings, store upsizes and retailer refurbishments throughout the year.

“It’s fantastic to enter the busiest months of the year with multiple lettings from renowned and iconic brands.”

He added: “We’re proud to announce the arrival of Rituals and MINISO, as we broaden our offer across retail, and catering to ensure the centre remains the most attractive proposition for leading brands and our customers.”
