Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is expected to offload a further £800m worth of shares in the online giant, CNBC revealed.

Bezos, who is estimated to have a £135bn net worth, may reportedly sell as many as 8 million to 10 million shares.

The news comes after Bezos last week sold shares of about £190m, which were marked as donations to non-profit groups although it remains unclear who received the donations.

He currently still owns about 988 million Amazon shares, amounting to an almost 10% stake in the company.

Since stepping down as chief executive in 2021, Bezos has started making plans to give away much of his fortune during his lifetime.

Bezos has reportedly been liquidating his shares in the e-commerce giant to fund his space venture Blue Origin.
