Superdrug has announced the appointment of Ghada Beal as the health and beauty retailer’s new healthcare director effective from 7 August, when interim healthcare director Caris Newson starts her new role as head of eCommerce at the group.
Beal’s appointment comes at a time when Superdrug has achieved consistent year-on-year growth across health retail, services and pharmacy, and will be investing in 25 new stores and the refurbishment of 70 existing stores this year.
Having received a bachelor of honours in pharmacy at Sunderland University, Beal started her career as a pre-registration pharmacist.
Since then, she has held various roles from pharmacy manager, store manager, area manager and regional manager, showing her talent for delivery through “engaging and inspiring” her team.
With 28 years of experience in retail and pharmacy, Beal has most recently held the position of retail and pharmacy services director at Lloyds Pharmacy
She previously spent 26 years at Walgreen Boots Alliance. In her final years at WBA, she held the role of vice president director of stores for four years.
Simon Comins, commercial director at Superdrug, said: “We have ambitious plans to continue to grow our health retail, pharmacy, clinical and digital services and Ghada’s passion for exceptional standards and her proven track record for delivering for the customer will help us deliver our goals.”
Beal added: “I’m excited to join such a dynamic brand and business to help deliver Superdrug Health’s strategic ambitions in retail, healthcare and pharmacy.
“My background as a pharmacist has meant that health and wellbeing has always been essential to me and I’m keen to continue developing the ways in which Superdrug supports the diverse healthcare needs of all communities.”
