Sosandar appoints interim non-executive chairman

On this episode of Talking Shop, we're joined by Dan Cate, CEO and Founder of SoldThrough. Dan is a heavyweight retail executive who has spent decades steering the merchandising and digital operations of America’s most iconic retail institutions, from Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s to Century 21 and Lord & Taylor. Today, through his platform SoldThrough, Dan helps international fashion brands cross the Atlantic and crack the notoriously brutal U.S. retail landscape. We break down his journey from the shop floor to the C-suite, the operational indicators that prove a brand is truly ready for international expansion, and how to navigate a fragmented American market without destroying your margins. We also discuss how to balance localised inventory with central efficiency, and the one non-negotiable metric that tells you a product has found genuine market fit.

Sosandar has announced the appointment of Nick Mustoe as its interim non-executive chairman.

The move comes after its former non-executive chairman Bill Murray suddenly passed away in February 2023.

Mustoe was formerly a non-executive director and will take the role of NE chairman until a permanent replacement can be found.

Mustoe said: “While it is in incredibly sad circumstances that I take this role, as Bill was a fantastic chairman and has left a lasting legacy to the business, I am proud to have been appointed as interim non-executive chairman.

“I look forward to working with Ali, Julie, Steve and the rest of the board as the group continues to move forward on its journey to become one of the largest womenswear brands globally.”

Sosandar is one of the fastest growing women’s fashion brands in the UK, it was founded in 2016 and listed on AIM in 2017.
