JYSK to open two new stores in Greater Manchester

On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

JYSK has announced that it is set to open two new stores within the Greater Manchester region.

The first store is due to open on 10 June 2021 in Bury at Angouleme Retail Park, followed by a store in Stockport at Manchester Road Retail Park on 8 July 2021, with the new stores expected to create 25 new jobs.

The two new openings are part of the retailer’s “ambitious” UK expansion plan which comes off the back of its latest results for the financial year 2019/20, which saw total sales reach €41m (£35.2m).

Jenny Johnston, sales and marketing manager, UK and Ireland, JYSK, said: “We are thrilled to be opening two stores in Greater Manchester to make our affordable and much-loved furniture even more accessible in the North.

“Our head office operations are also based in Stockport, so we have a strong affinity for the area and continue to see it prosper.”

She added: “The Bury and Stockport stores will bring the affordable Scandi homewares and furniture that we are synonymous with to discerning and design-conscious shoppers of Greater Manchester who will be able to click and collect the same day, as well as explore exclusive in-store lines.”
