White Stuff makes 390 staff redundant
Clothing retailer White Stuff has reportedly made 390 staff redundant from its head office and UK retail stores.
According to Drapers, the move has been made as it accelerated its transformation programme due to the impact of Covid-19 and follows a consultation period which started in May.
The losses reportedly come in the form of around 100 head office roles and around 290 retail staff.
Reports suggested the retailer was set to make “significant” redundancies back in May, after the retailer anticipated a reduced demand and shorter opening hours once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
It is believed that staff were notified the company would be opening a consultation on jobs then. The retailer said it was making the move in order to keep all of its 120 stores open and is making the decision from information that it has already learned from its already open German stores.
